Robert-Webelo and Arrow of light

We are so proud of Robert for getting his Webelo and Arrow of Light.  He didn't act like it was a big deal that night, but he was telling people about what a big deal it is afterwards, so I know he is proud.  It was cool to see him cross the bridge to "manhood".  He really is growing up!

 After this they had him cross a bridge over to his now Boy Scout leader.  Robert kept going back and forth across the bridge to be funny.

First two weeks of school.

Last week was the first week of school for all my kids.  Robert and Isabelle are being homeschooled and Austin is going to Kindergarten at Chinook.  Rob took this pictures of all the kids on their first day of school.  I think he did a great job.

 Our first Friday we had a tea party.  I made english scones and cucumber sandwiches.  We had pink lemonade instead of tea.  Then we all read poems from Robert Louis Stevenson's "Child's book of Verses".

 Robert had a cub scout campout in his leader's back yard.  This night they went on a walk in her woods and ran into a bunch of yellow jackets.  Robert and his leader ended up getting the worst of it.  We found two live yellow jackets in his underpants!!  Lots of swelling and itching, no fun!  Needless to say, all of the boys went home after that incident.

 We are studying Astronomy this year for science.  Robert is in his jammies since his bug bites were still bugging him.  This is our rendition of the Solar System.  Our Jupiter got a little deflated!

 My friend Marcie has a horse and offered to let our kids ride it.  Plus, Isabelle wrote Marcie a sweet note with a picture asking her if we could come.  Here is Talia's turn on the horse.

 Marcie said that Austin was a natural rider.  He did very well with Charlie the horse.

 Talia went and hugged the other horses when her turn was over.

 Robert was nervous on the horse, but Marcie was so easy and sweet with them that Robert said that she helped him to overcome his fears. :)

 Isabelle was in heaven on her turn.  She was very comfortable on the horse.  She said she wants to check out books on how to ride horses now.

Cub Camp and more

So, last week Robert went to cub camp.  It was a knight/medieval theme, which I thought was very fun, especially since we just studied that stuff in history.  They made helmets.



Only at camp is it cool to wear milk jugs on your head.


Robert loved the archery, and the fact that we played chess too.








The leaders chose me to make the flag.  I had a bunch of cool stuff from homeschool that we used earlier to make coat of arms, so I used some of those things to make this flag.  I tried to incorporate Boy Scout stuff and medieval stuff as well.  Our group was the "Lords".















 
The boys got to be part of a knighting ceremony.  Robert was so proud!

Rob made Austin this cute balloon turtle.  Turtles are Austin's new favorite animal, that and bears.  He has been checking out tons of turtle and bear books from the library.
 
Isabelle has been really into horses and decorating.  She has been putting tons of hair things etc on her stuffed animals...

I ended up getting a fat lip that night, but I gave out some awards.
The boys were given a box of miscellaneous stuff and were suppose to make things out of it.There was a display table for things that the boys had done.This was Robert's car for the pinewood derby. Rob was the announcer at the derby.
